About
Flotex Sheet
TOP 3 Benefits:
- Health & Ecotoxicity
- SA8000 certified
- Product Take-Back Scheme
Flotex Sheet is a flocked floor covering that combines the appeal of a textile floor with the practical, hygienic and durable advantages of a resilient floor. The product is comprised of a layer of upright nylon 6.6 fibres above a glass fibre reinforced PVC backing and can be cleaned using standard cleaning equipment. As the upright flocked fibres are firmly anchored into a waterproof backing, it's possible to wet clean right down to the base of the sheet removing dirt, stains, and allergens. Suitable for allergy sensitive application.
Flotex Sheet achieves R12 (AS 4586:2013 oil-wet ramp test method) and P5 (AS 4586:2013 Wet pendulum test method) slip resistance and has low VOC emissions. It is designed for extreme wear resistance and high traffic areas where long-term performance is required with easy cleaning. Flotex Sheet has its own Natspec work section 0652. It is suitable for both residential and commercial projects.
Forbo Floor Coverings Pty Ltd (Ripley site) is certified with SA8000.

More information:
The products have successfully passed the relevant GreenTag Standard's Cautionary Assessment Process and no issues of concern or red lights comments exist regarding the toxicity of the products.
The product uses an expanding agent which contains ADCA (CAS number 123-77-3). ADCA is categorised with an H334 Hazard Statement ('May cause sensitisation by inhalation'). It is also on the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) for Authorisation.
The ADCA delivered in liquid form to Forbo, is an 'aid to manufacture' that is 'completely expended' in the process used to produce foam backing via purposeful, heat-induced, micro-explosive reaction. As the H-Statement relates to inhalable dust only, risk is only attributable where dust might be created from the foamed backing after manufacture.
As the product is delivered to the factory as a liquid and any trace amount remaining after the reaction is entirely encapsulated within the polymer foam backing of the final flooring, there is an extremely unlikely chance that end users will be irritated by inhalation given the highly unlikely event that dust was somehow created from the backing while in use that then migrates into the room.
The risk has a potentially higher likelihood only during the manufacturing process of the original expanding agent itself which is outside the scope of this assessment.
Forbo and its expanding agent supplier together with a previous onsite audit by GreenTag, provide sufficient evidence that the occupational risks are mitigated. The products have successfully passed the relevant GreenTag Standard's Cautionary Assessment Process and no issues of concern or red lights comments exist regarding the toxicity of the products.
