More information:
The product is GreenTag GreenRate Level A Certified under Scheme A7.
The scope of certification includes Tarasafe Ultra H2O vinyl flooring in 2.0mm thickness.
The products have successfully passed the relevant GreenTag Standard's Cautionary Assessment Process and no issues of concern or red lights comments exist regarding the toxicity of the products.
The product uses an expanding agent which contains ADCA (CAS number 123-77-3). ADCA is categorised with an H334 Hazard Statement ('May cause sensitisation by inhalation'). It is also on the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) for Authorisation.
ADCA is an 'aid to manufacture' that is 'completely expended' in the process used to produce foam backing via purposeful, heat-induced, micro-explosive reaction. As the H-Statement relates to inhalable dust only, risk is only attributable where dust might be created from the foamed backing after manufacture.
Gerflor uses specific aspiration and close the lid of the equipment after introduction in the manufacturing process and any trace amount remaining after the reaction is entirely encapsulated within the polymer foam backing of the final flooring, there is an extremely unlikely chance that end users will be irritated by inhalation given the highly unlikely event that dust was somehow created from the backing while in use that then migrates into the room.
The risk has a potentially higher likelihood only during the manufacturing process of the original expanding agent itself which is outside the scope of this assessment.
Gerflor and its expanding agent supplier provide sufficient evidence that the occupational risks are mitigated. The products have successfully passed the relevant GreenTag Standard's Cautionary Assessment Process and no issues of concern or red lights comments exist regarding the toxicity of the products.
