Global GreenTag International is inviting all industry stakeholders (especially manufacturers) to engage in a public consultation on our Product Category Rules (PCR) for Unreinforced Concrete Mixtures and Concrete Additives. The deadline is on March 7, 2023!

The Global GreenTag Environmental Product Declaration™ (EPD) program is looking for your input and comment into the development of Sub Product Category Rules (PCR), based on Life Cycle Analysis for Unreinforced Concrete Mixtures and Concrete Additives (SUB-PCR UCM:2023), that Global GreenTagdevelops in collaboration with the Evah Institute.Consumers and business customers alike seek reliable, quantitative data about the environmental burden of products, to help them make purchasing decisions that account for such burdens. Their decision-making is further supported by initiatives, including EPDs, such as those that are prepared and provided by Global GreenTag International

The Global GreenTag EPD™ is a user-friendly representation of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) results. Therefore, to ensure that each GreenTag EPD provides reliable and comparable information, each one is underpinned by relevant Product Category Rules (PCR). In terms of ISO 14025 compliance, PCR is defined as a set of specific rules, requirements, and guidelines for developing environmental declarations for one or more products that can fulfil equivalent functions. PCRs determine what information should be gathered, how that information should be evaluated, and how it should be presented in a form of environmental declaration.

Input by manufacturers into the development of PCRs is very important, as it enables Global GreenTag product assessors to tailor PCRs for the conforming LCAs to reflect typical material sourcing, adopted manufacturing processes and common use phase issues. Ultimately, for EPDs to represent all important information about products in an accessible way.

The Global GreenTag public consultation period for PCR Unreinforced Concrete Mixtures and Concrete Additives closes on 07/03/2023. The draft PCR can be downloaded HERE.
