Must see speaking sessions at the FutureBuild Stage at ArchiBuildExpo 2023!

In addition to hosting the first 'Sustainability Pavilion' at ArchiBuild Expo, Global GreenTag International is speaking on two panels.

Global GreenTag International CEO David Baggs will be leading two panel sessions on the FutureBuild Stage at ArchiBuild Expo 2023.

The first session, 'Is that product really Green?' will explore the issue of product greenwashing that prevails in the market. Moreover, it will highlight the value and longer-term benefits of using accredited products that have been substantiated by independent and scientifically backed third-party product assessment bodies.

David Baggs says: "When we ask ourselves how green a product really is, we are going back to the fundamental ideas, elements and principals of that concept to dissect its details."

Besides David, a stellar panel of speakers include: House of Bamboo CEO Jennifer Snyders, Laytoncorp CEO & Founder Steve Layton & ForestOne National Business Development Manager John Dalla Via.

Both House of Bamboo and Laytoncorp have their products certified by Global GreenTag International and will be exhibiting their green products at Archibuild alongside fellow manufacturers with products certified by GreenTag: Island Block and Paving and Interface & forming a one stop green shop for A&D professionals as part of the new Sustainability Pavilion curated by GreenTag.

David added: "With the Sustainability Pavilion, we help spotlight the strong commitment of our GreenTag manufacturers to the built world and to all of our manufacturers with certified products. We are working in the background right now to bring forwards a new product standard that will be a first in the certification field to help raise the bar and stay abreast of the evolution that we are witnessing in green, healthy and ethical product manufacturing."

PANEL #2 - Offsetting: The Good, The Bad and The Needed

After the first panel discussion, David resumes his speaker agenda with the session "Offsetting: The Good, The Bad and The Needed" split into two days – Friday, June 16th and Saturday, June 17th. David will be joined by Troy Creighton, Managing Director of Stormtech, whose products have been certified with Global GreenTag for some years and who will be also exhibiting at ArchiBuild.
On the Friday, the panel will also include a special guest - Wayne Wescott, the CEO of Greenfleet, the 25 year old not-for-profit organisation and Australia's first carbon offset provider.

The session will explore the proposed Biodiversity Certificates and Nature-Based Solutions for offsetting and how they align with national and industry targets. They will also discuss how these initiatives aim to avoid the pitfalls of previous schemes and ensure meaningful benefits for nature, while effectively offsetting unavoidable impacts.

Troy Creighton has led Stormtech for over 20 years and represents a boots on the ground example of an Australian manufacturer that has taken great initiatives to offset and seek benefits for nature. Stormtech's embedded sustainable business practices, which include leveraging the latest in energy efficient equipment, hybridisation of older equipment, and unique methods of manufacture have dramatically reduced Stormtech's industrial footprint to ensure this trajectory will ensure it for future generations.

Wayne Wescott has served as CEO of Greenfleet for nearly a decade. The organisation plants native biodiverse forests in Australia and New Zealand to restore critical ecosystems and capture carbon emissions on behalf of its supporters. Wayne has worked in the not-for-profit sector for local and state governments and as a consultant in the area of telecommunications, environmental management and local governance. He has trained individuals and organisations across Australia and internationally on Local Agenda 21, and designed and established ICLEI's Cities for Climate Protection® Program in Australia and Communities for Climate Protection in New Zealand, the Water Campaign™ and the Triple Bottom Line Alliance.

Attendees to the panel will gain insights into the proposed new regulations and their engagement with the building and construction sectors, as well as the architecture and design community's role in achieving nature-positive outcomes.
