WELL™ Building Standard 'Equivalencies' for Products with Global GreenTag Certificates will ROLL OUT IN JANUARY

The organisation for bringing healthy Global GreenTag certified building and interiors products comprehensively and transparently into alignment with the WELL^TM  tool has officially begun.

As of January 1, 2018, all GreenTag International Standard version 4.0 Certified Products will have relevant WELL^TM Building Standard Equivalency recognition/s included on their Global GreenTag Certificates.

For equivalencies that require the Global GreenTag Product Health Declaration^TM (PhD^TM ), the WELL equivalencies won't be added to a certificate, unless there is also a PhD available.  Hence from January, if people see a new product certificate, dated 2018 without WELL  Building Standard equivalencies, they will know that the product is not currently relevant to WELL;  and, if they see a certification with WELL equivalence, it will tell them (where relevant) if it needs a PhD certificate as well, to comply with the WELL Feature requirements.

"Manufacturers with products certified with Global GreenTag and with PhDs have a lot to look forward to in the New Year as the full scope of WELL  'equivalencies' for GreenTag certified products comes into play," says David Baggs, Global GreenTag's CEO and Program Director.

"The WELL standard is moving very fast into the market and having a big impact on products and procurement. There will also likely be further updates in 2018, which we will announce to manufacturers as they unfold."

Meanwhile, Global GreenTag Certified products with PhDs now have the opportunity to step more easily into the rapidly expanding Australian WELL  market but also the USA and 30⁺ other countries where WELL  projects have a significant presence.  "In Australia alone, the International WELL Building Institute already has forged strong partnerships with companies like DEXUS, CBRE, Mirvac, CBUS Properties and Lend Lease ... it's a promising time for manufacturers with GreenTag certified products," says David.

WELL does not use a points system, a project achieves 'Features' or not. For systems not included in the original Guide, an 'Equivalency' system is used for recognition of additional certification systems.
