Global GreenTag International EPD Program Expands to South Korea

Global GreenTag International approves IGSC as an EPD and LCA Verification body in the Republic of Korea

The Institute of Global Sustainability Certification (IGSC) in South Korea since 2021, will be expanding with Global GreenTag in 2025. In addition to being the Sales Licensee of GreenTag's product level certification, declaration and verification assessment services to manufacturers in the region, IGSC will be moving forward as an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) verification body in the region for the Global GreenTag International EPD™ Program.

IGSC is an accredited certification and verification body in accordance with international standards (ISO 17065, ISO 17029) and operates environment-related certification and verification services in various industries.

Dr Nana Bortsie-Aryee, Program Director of Global GreenTag International, said:

For manufacturers operating in Korea, the news means that GreenTag and IGSC will be able to more directly support domestic companies in obtaining EPD verification, assisting them to better respond to increasingly stringent international environmental information requirements.

As the local verification body for Global GreenTag International, IGSC will provide EPD, LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) and EPD report verification. This will enable domestic companies to proceed with verification through local bodies without having to directly contact foreign EPD certification bodies, addressing communication challenges caused by language barriers.

"In turn, the Global GreenTag International EPD program will provide more direct service and recognition for manufacturers in South Korea who want to export their products internationally and need their EPD and LCA reports to be verified for global markets," adds Dr Bortsie-Aryee.

As a member and approved ECO EPD Programme Operator by the prestigious ECO Platform, Global GreenTag International EPDs also offer South Korean manufacturers added recognition and access to construction markets in Australia, North America as well as Europe.
