David Baggs' Contribution to Driving Sustainability Honoured by Australian Institute of Architects

The Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) has elevated David Baggs, CEO and Program Director of Global GreenTag International to Life Fellow for his "exemplary contribution" to the built environment.

News of the Life Fellow award was sent by Clare Cousins, the AIA's National President, honouring David's "long term and principled involvement in architecture, practice and service to the profession and the wider community."

The AIA National President said of David: "Your contribution to the institute over many years, as well as a passionate advocate for sustainable future in the built environment has been highly valued and appreciated by members and staff alike."

David, who received notification of his award while in the USA last month during the launch of Global GreenTag International in the Americas, said: "I must say the news took me completely by surprise and I am very honoured to be recognised by an institution that I respect greatly and who I have been a member with since my early days as a green architect and exploring energy efficiency, passive energy sources and the beauty of earth covered building design.  I thank the National Council and staff of the AIA for bestowing this great honour and it continues to be a great pleasure to serve the built environment and profession as I have evolved over the years into the fields of materials specialisation and sustainable product certification to simplify and facilitate sustainable action by the broader profession, which I am absolutely passionate about."

Global GreenTag International also congratulates David. The company's Managing Director, Mary-Lou Kelly, says "this is a well-deserved honour for David and we are very proud of him."
